ABOUT THE RETREAT
The conceptual mind can take us only so far when trying to ‘understand’ the meaning of the yogasutras. It is for this reason that reading translations, often leave us frustrated and confused. Lucy will use talks and discussion to orientate the mind toward different themes presented in the yoga sutras. Tis will be done alongside chanting, meditation and silence in order to give space for insight and realisationto arise within us.
Offering ourselves fully to silence is an important part of the journey, if we are wanting to know the yoga sutras. For this reason we will have silence each day after the yoga nidra in the evening untilbreakfast begins at 8.00am the next day. We will also haveone day of full silence on the Friday, apart from during thegroup sessions should people wish to ask questions
Relaxation and rest are also an important part of this retreatas it is not possible to simultaneously relax and repress. So, we will have a yoga nidra each evening and space in themorning for self practice.
The yoga sutras have the capacity to take us toward a deeperknowing of ourselves, but this cannot be done by drivingourselves toward this understanding with our personal will. This retreat will offer a chance for us to allow a different and more fulfilling mode of knowing to arise.
